BAY OF PLENTY YOUNGSTERS OFFERD A OPPORTUNITY TO BE PART OF CRICKET HISTORY IN THE BAY

A select number of Bay of Plenty Year 5/6 cricket crazy girls and boys, will have an experience at the Black Caps verses South Africa ODI (One Day International) at the Bay Oval on the 21st October 2014, which they are unlikely to ever forget.

Bay of Plenty Cricket history will be made, with the New Zealand side making their debut at the countries latest international cricket venue.

New Zealand Cricket is offering the opportunity for up to 20 teams of eight youngsters, to participate in a quick fire round of Kiwi Cricket, at the half time break in the first Black Caps International to be played in the Western Bay of Plenty. .

All of the selected youngsters will receive a free ticket to the match, as well as a free T-shirt, with two match tickets available to adults who look after the teams on the day.

However Year five and six school teams will need to be in quick, as entries close with Bay of Plenty Cricket, on Friday 22nd August 2014. All the required cricket gear will be supplied, with the young stars of the future just required to bring a hat, lunch and a drink.

The first Black Caps ODI at the Bay Oval completes a remarkable transformation at Blake Park, which has gone from grass to an international cricket venue complete with a modern-day pavilion, in less than a decade. The 1st March 2005, saw the start of earthworks that has transformed the Bay Oval into an international cricket venue, which has a “village green” atmosphere while accommodating up to ten thousand spectators.

The Black Cap side to play South Africa is likely to have a strong Bay of Plenty player presence. In the few seasons, Kane Williamson, Trent Boult and Daniel Flynn, have graduated from the Bay of Plenty senior men’s teams to the Black Caps by way of the Northern Knights. In addition Corey Anderson stormed into the New Zealand side last season from his residence in the Western Bay of Plenty.
