BLACK CAPS TO FACE SOUTH AFRICA AT THE BAY OVAL

Bay of Plenty Cricket history will be made on Tuesday 21st October 2014, when the Black Caps play South Africa in the first Black Caps ODI (One Day International) at the countries latest International Cricket venue at the Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui.

Three days later, the Black Caps and South Africa will back up in the second ODI at the Bay Oval on Friday 24th September, before moving to Seddon Park in Hamilton for the third game of the ANZ International Series on Labour Monday (27th September 2014)

The Black Cap side to play South Africa is likely to have a strong Bay of Plenty player presence. In the last few seasons, Kane Williamson and Trent Boult have graduated from the Bay of Plenty senior men’s teams to the Black Caps by way of the Northern Knights. In addition Corey Anderson stormed into the New Zealand side last season from his residence in the Western Bay of Plenty last season.

Ground Admission tickets, go on sale on Monday (22 September 2014), for what is sure to be a full house of mostly patriotic Black Cap supporters. Tickets will be available from Ticketek or priority bookings from the New Zealand Cricket website at www.blackcaps.co.nz.

For the real cricket aficionados, there is the opportunity get the best seats in the house, by way of the premium corporate hospitality packages. The BOP Oval VIP Club will soak up the best views in the park, from the fully hosted executive marquee situated on the raised embankment adjacent to the sightscreen, with unlimited views down the pitch.

The “Boundary Braai” Marquee incorporates a South African themed gourmet BBQ, alongside Bay Oval Pavilion building. Proceeds from the ANZ International Series Corporate hospitality at the Bay Oval, will be used to further develop the facilities at the Bay of Plenty’s premier cricket ground.

The first Black Caps ODI at the Bay Oval completes a remarkable transformation at Blake Park, which has gone from grass to an international cricket venue complete with a modern-day pavilion, in less than a decade. The first day of March 2005, saw the start of earthworks that has transformed the Bay Oval into an international cricket venue, which has a “village green” atmosphere while accommodating up to ten thousand spectators.
