Posted: Friday, 27 February 2015

Summer Sundays for Bay of Plenty Cricket, don’t get much busier than the first day of March 2015, with three events taking centre stage.

Bay of Plenty Cricket in association with More FM and Gray-Nicholls, has come up with a day of fast-paced cricket action for Baywide secondary school sportsmen, with the 2015 Secondary School T10 Shootout.

Eight Bay of Plenty Schools, will play four round robin games before the mid afternoon playoffs. Each game which feature ten overs per side, with the rules limiting bowlers to two overs per innings. It is expected that the boundary ropes on the Bay Oval and the other grounds at Blake Park, will be under fire throughout the T10 Shootout.

Four Western Bay of Plenty schools along with three sides from Rotorua and a Taupo Combined Schools team, will battle to become the inaugural the Bay of Plenty Secondary School T10 Shootout winner.

An additional reason for the Secondary School T10 Shootout, is to attract youngsters back to the game that haven’t played since Primary and Intermediate School.

The Bay of Plenty Development team, will wrap up their Basil McBurney season campaign at the Te Puke Domain, against their Counties Manukau counterparts. While the Bay side have won one match, lost two and suffered a rained out affair against Waikato Valley – the primary objective of the Bay of Plenty second eleven, is to give promising youngsters the opportunity to experience senior representative cricket.

Kyle Dovey, who is still at secondary school, will make his Bay Development debut on Sunday. The youngster turns out for the Mount Maunganui Club and made his Baywide premier debut earlier in the season.

Excellence in Bay of Plenty Junior Representative Cricket will be celebrated on Sunday afternoon, when the annual BOPCA Junior prizegiving is held at the Bay Oval.
