Posted: Thursday, 21 August 2014

It is hoped that the unusual sight of cricket being played on the Bay Oval at Mount Maunganui in August will produce real benefits on the other side of the world in a few weeks time.

The White Ferns are in the Western Bay of Plenty this weekend and will play a serious warm-up match on Saturday (24 August 2014) against some of the rising stars of Bay Cricket.

While Saturdays match is a vital part of the White Ferns Caribbean tour preparations – the Bay of Plenty Invitation team, who will provide the opposition at the Bay Oval encounter, will be looking to show early season form to impress the Bay of Plenty selection panels.

The Bay Invitation side, consists of a number of the most promising senior secondary players from last year, with a couple of players who earned their Bay senior means team debuts last season.
